2.2. Patient Alarms

When the Ensign Bed Sensor Pad (BSP) detects an issue with the client or the device itself, an alarm condition will automatically be displayed in the top Alarm Area (circled) of the page.

In the event of a Patient Alarm / Alert condition, the system will emit an audible alarm sound and the Individual Patient Card (IPC) will display one of the alarm conditions (circled) listed in this chapter. An option to mute the audible alarm sound will also appear on the IPC. Clicking on the Mute option will silence the audible alarm but will not clear the alarm condition.

The caregiver or nursing staff must attend to the patient to investigate the cause of the alarm condition. If a new alarm condition occurs or if there are multiple alarm conditions present, each one must be muted individually.

All the muted alarms sound will return after 3-15 minutes, depending on settings set by the Administrator if the alarm conditon still present. The exception is the Wi-Fi lost alarm sound which will remain muted.
A typical IPC with Respiratory Rate Too High alarm condition and the audible sound muted.
